Sugarloaf Mountain
CVA’s location at Sugarloaf Mountain gives our athletes a distinct advantage with a variety of terrain, world-class training venues, and a longer at-home training season.
- High-speed surface lift situated between Competition Hill and the FIS-certified Narrow Gauge trail, coupled with state-of-the-art snowmaking, provides an ideal training environment for competitive skiers and snowboarders.
- U.S. Ski and Snowboard-certified Moguls A and B courses.
- Six terrain parks with robust jump lines, snow features, and jib features.
- Our Olympian-designed Cross Course is the perfect venue to hone racing skills and for a home-course advantage during USASA, FIS, or NorAm events.
- Brackett Basin and Burnt Mountain offers over 650 acres of backcountry-style glades including steeps, chutes, and cliffs.
High Performance Athletic Development
Dryland training is led by discipline-specific coaches and our High Performance coach. Training utilizes CVA's outdoor and indoor venues including the Anti-Gravity Complex which features:
- Olympic-quality indoor trampolines
- Skate park and bowl
- Climbing wall
- Indoor court
- Weight room
- Aerobics/Spin room
Our experienced coaching staff is focused on individualized student-athlete development. Every athlete engages in the process of designing their athletic growth through goal setting, competition planning, fitness evaluations, and conditioning planning. We strive to provide every Big Dog with the opportunity to be the best that they can be.
Mental Performance
Carrabassett Valley Academy is the only Ski & Snowboard Academy with dedicated Mental Performance programming. Our Mental Performance coach supports our athletes with mental skills such as imagery, motivation, mood, and attention to help athletes build personal philosophies that prepare them for the unknown; both on and off the hill.
Supportive Community
Student-athletes are supported by a community of like-minded, high-achieving student-athletes, coaching staff, and teachers. Sugarloaf and Carrabassett Valley, the larger community where we live, learn and train, are big supporters in helping our CVA Big Dogs achieve their dreams.
